What is a home inspection?
A comprehensive mobile home inspection evaluates the condition of a home, with the goal of protecting the buyers interest. The inspection should identify major deficiencies and unsafe or expensive problems that currently exist in the home. An inspection should include review of 1) structural systems, like the foundation including tie downs and straps and the roof; 2) exterior elements like decks, siding, drainage; 3) plumbing, including but not limited to interior water supply and distribution systems; 4) electrical systems, such as cables, electrical panel, amperage and voltage; 5) heating equipment and installation; 6) air conditioning equipment; 7) interior systems, like walls, ceilings doors and windows. A final report should be provided that details the status of these reviews along with photographs. Home inspections can cost between $250 and $500. It’s always a good idea to use an inspector that adheres to the American Society of Home Inspectors Standards of Practice.
